Cops: Man found dead behind Hempstead building

Nassau County's Homicide Squad is investigating the death of a man who apparently fell from the roof of a Hempstead apartment building early Thursday, police said.

A man in his 20s was found in the rear of 43 High St. at about 6:25 a.m., police said.

Police said in a news release the man apparently had fallen from the roof of a three-story apartment building.

Reasons for the fall have yet to be determined, and the investigation is ongoing, police said.

Identification of the victim is being withheld pending family notification, police said.
