Cops: Man gets cash in 2nd drugstore robbery try
A man who may have been armed demanded money from cashiers at two Mineola drugstores Friday, Nassau police said.
Dressed in black with a black ski mask pulled over his face, the man first tried to rob a Walgreen's at 1 Jericho Tpke. about 4:15 p.m., holding his hand in his pocket but not displaying a weapon, police said.
When the cashier told him he couldn't open the cash register, the man fled.
A few minutes later he entered a CVS at 17 E. Jericho Tpke. and demanded money again. This time the cashier complied, handing over an unspecified amount, police said.
The man made his getaway on a mountain bike, riding south on Royal Avenue.
Police ask that anyone with information about the crimes call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. Callers will remain anonymous.
