A Bethpage man faces drug charges after allegedly receiving 2 kilograms of cocaine at the grocery store where he worked, Nassau County police said.

Ariel Rodriguez, 31, of 241 Broadway, was working at a Locust Valley store when he signed for a package of cigars that contained 2 kilos of cocaine, police said.

Rodriguez was arrested at 6 p.m. Thursday after signing for the package at the store, Forest Grocery at 384 Forest Ave., police said.

The arrest was the result of a joint investigation involving Nassau's Narcotics / Vice Squad, the New York City Police Department, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the U.S. Postal Service, police said in a news release.

Rodriguez is charged with first-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and first-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

He was arraigned Friday and held on a bail of $250,000 cash or $500,000 bond. His next court date is Oct. 1.
