Nassau County police said they are investigating an attempted robbery that happened at 11 p.m. Friday in Wantagh.

The victim was walking near Railroad Avenue and Grove Street when he was approached by two men who demanded money, police said. When the victim refused, he was attacked, police said. The victim thought he had been punched in the right side of his abdomen but realized he had been stabbed after the two men ran away, according to police. The suspects did not get any money.

The victim was taken to a hospital with a puncture wound to his abdomen, police said.
