An East Norwich man was arrested Wednesday after failing to heed warnings to stop making "harassing phone calls" to the Old Brookville Police Department, Nassau police said.

Matthew B. Burkhardt, 46, phoned the emergency line for several months and the village police told him stop, a police spokeswoman said. She said details of why he called were not available.

When he continued, police began put a tracer on the line and documented several calls from Burkhardt between Sept. 18 and Oct. 6, police said.

Burkhardt, of 600 Pine Hollow Rd., Apt. 16 8A, was arrested 1:30 a.m. at his home and was arraigned Wednesday on second-degree obstructing governmental administration. Details of his bail were not immediately available.
