An Elmont man who sold another man fake jewelry Monday threatened his customer with a box-cutter after being asked for a refund, Nassau County police said.

Hector Vasquez, 44, of 30 Crystal St., is charged with criminal possession of a weapon and menacing after he refused to comply with the request of a refund, police said.

Vasquez sold the jewelry at about 9 p.m. for $60 in front of a restaurant on the 400 block of Hempstead Turnpike in Elmont, police said.

When the man realized the jewelry was fake, he asked Vasquez for a refund, police said. Vasquez threatened the man with a box-cutter, and the man then called police, police said.

Fourth Precinct officers arrested Vasquez without incident, and there were no injuries, police said.

He is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in First District Court in Hempstead.
