Cops: Man robbed at gunpoint in New Cassel
Third Squad detectives are looking for five men who beat and robbed a man at gunpoint late Thursday in New Cassel, Nassau County police said.
The victim, 38, was walking on Railroad Avenue near Brook Street about 11:30 p.m. when he was approached by five men, one of whom had a handgun.
The men demanded money, and when the victim attempted to run away, the assailant with the handgun used it to hit the victim in the head, police said. Another man beat hit him in the head and face, police said.
The other men went through the victim's wallet, taking personal papers and an undisclosed amount of cash.
The suspects then ran off, west on Railroad Avenue, police said; the victim refused medical assistance at the scene.
