Two men chased another man, forced him to the ground and then robbed him of cash and credit cards late Monday in Rockville Centre, Nassau County police said.

First Squad detectives are investigating the robbery that started at 7:35 p.m. in front of a building on the 1000 block of Hempstead Avenue.

The victim, 42, was in front of the building when two men got out of a dark-colored vehicle and demanded money.

The two suspects began to punch the victim in the face; the victim ran off, but the suspects chased him and forced him to the ground, police said. The two suspects then took from the victim's pocket a wallet containing cash and credit cards, detectives said. The suspects then drove off in an unknown direction, police said.

The victim was not injured.
