Cops: Man robbed of iPod in Uniondale
Police are searching for a robber who struck a man in the face with a handgun Monday night in Uniondale, stealing his iPod -- and $2 in cash.
The robber, who Nassau County police said was armed with a silver revolver, is described as being in his 20s, about 6-foot and 180 pounds. He was wearing a dark-blue hoodie and light-blue athletic shorts, police said.
The robbery took place on Braxton Street, between Greengrove Avenue and Fenimore Avenue, at 8:20 p.m. Police said the robber approached the 18-year-old victim, struck him in the face with the revolver, took his iPod -- and demanded cash. The victim gave the robber $2 from his pocket, police said.
The robber then fled westbound on Braxton.
The victim suffered lacerations and contusions to his face and was taken to a hospital by private automobile. Police said he was treated and later released.
