Cops: Man's iPhone stolen at Green Acres
A father and son walking near the parking garage at Green Acres Mall were robbed Thursday by a teen on a bike, Nassau County police said.
Police said the robbery occurred just before 8 p.m. outside the mall in Valley Stream.
The robber, described as being about 16 or 17 years old, wearing a navy blue hooded sweatshirt, dark jeans and a New York Yankees baseball cap, was riding a silver BMX-style bike, police said.
Police said he stole an iPhone from the son, who is 20, and that the father, 57, chased the bike-riding robber -- but said the robber knocked the man down, injuring his face.
The son was not injured in the robbery. The father was taken to a hospital to be treated for lacerations, police said.
Police ask anyone with information about the robbery to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
