A Hempstead man looking for work at a party supply store took a backpack containing electrical devices, including an iPad, from an office at the Carle Place business, Nassau County police said Monday.

Robert Ardoin, 35, of 26 Jerusalem St., was arrested on a burglary charge Sunday in Carle Place. He was held Monday afternoon pending $30,000 cash or $15,000 bond bail.

Police said Ardoin went to the Party City store at 290 Voice Rd. on Friday seeking employment and then took a backpack -- containing the iPad, a laptop computer and hearing-aid equipment -- from an office.

A Third Precinct officer on routine patrol saw Ardoin on Voice Road in Carle Place at about 7:40 a.m. Sunday and arrested him without incident.
