Nassau Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash Sunday that left a 25-year-old man in serious condition at Nassau University Medical Center, authorities said.
Police said that at roughly 5:25 p.m. the man was driving a 2005 Dodge Neon in the southbound lane of South Oyster Bay Road when he left the road and hit a utility pole at the westbound ramp of the Northern State Parkway.
A Nassau police emergency services unit and Syosset firefighters used hydraulic tools to free the man, who was trapped in the wreckage. Police did not release the man's name.
An official from the hospital said Sunday night that the man was being taken to surgery and declined to give an update on his condition.
