Cops: Man shot in Hempstead

Officers responding to a report of a shooting found a man bleeding "profusely" from gunshot wounds on the front steps of his Hempstead home Sunday evening, police said.
Hempstead Village police said the man was transported to a local hospital for treatment. His condition was not known Monday morning.
The incident was reported at 8:33 p.m. Sunday.
The scene was a home on Jackson Street, police said.
Nassau County Homicide Squad detectives are conducting an investigation. The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear -- and no arrests have been reported.
