A man was shot in the hip Friday night outside a Hempstead liquor store, police said.
The injury to the man, a store customer, was not considered life-threatening, police said. He was taken to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow for treatment.
An altercation took place inside the liquor store at 63 Main St., about 7:15 p.m., police said.
"Whatever happened inside, spilled outside and he was shot," Hempstead Village Police Lt. James Hayman said.
A group of men ran from the scene after the shooting, he said.
Hempstead Village police and Nassau County police detectives were investigating.
