Nassau County police are investigating a robbery in which a man allegedly stole frozen seafood from the Stop & Shop in Freeport on Friday morning.

Detectives said one of the supermarket employees confronted the man, possibly in his 40s, who was seen stuffing the frozen items into his coat about 11:30 a.m.

Police said the employee followed the man out the front door of the store, at 248 E. Sunrise Hwy.

The subject got into the passenger seat of a red vehicle, police said, and as the vehicle drove off, the employee tried to stop the subject by holding on to his jacket. The employee fell to the ground, sustaining a bloody nose and bruises to his face, police said.

The subject is further described as having dark hair and wearing a black leather jacket and blue jeans, police said.

Detectives ask that anyone with information call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS.

All callers will remain anonymous.
