A Queens man was arrested Wednesday on burglary charges for twice taking money from a donation box at a North Bellmore mosque, Nassau County police said.

First Squad detectives said an employee of the Jaam'e Masjid Mosque, at 1425 Newbridge Rd., saw on video surveillance Ahmad Saeed, 48, of 8820 181st St., Hollis, taking money from a donation box.

On the surveillance video, Saeed is seen using wire to attempt to retrieve cash from the box, police said.

The witness responded to the scene and stopped Saeed as he tried to leave the building, at about 11:50 p.m., police said

Police said further investigation revealed that Saeed also was seen on video surveillance taking an unspecified amount of cash from a donation box on March 21.

Saeed is charged with two counts of third-degree burglary and possession of burglary tools.

He is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in First District Court in Hempstead.
