A Queens man is under arrest, charged with using forged identification to open bank accounts and steal more than $100,000 from two banks in Nassau County, police said.

Mohammed Khalil, 30, of Avon Road, Jamaica, was arrested Wednesday in Long Island City and charged with second-degree and third-degree grand larceny, second-degree possession of a forged instrument and first-degree defraud.

He was scheduled for arraignment Thursday in First District Court in Hempstead.

Police said that in July 2009, Khalil opened business accounts at an Astoria Federal Savings Bank branch in Floral Park and at a Citizens Bank branch in Hempstead, then deposited money via counterfeit and underfunded checks to steal more than $100,000.
