A 33-year-old Massapequa man stopped late Sunday night in Amityville for driving with his two young sons in the bed of his pickup truck was arrested and charged with felony drunken driving under Leandra's Law, police said.

Amityville police officer Justin McElmoyl arrested Carlos A. Rivera of 647 Clocks Blvd. after he stopped his 1996 Dodge Dakota on northbound Broadway at 10:45 p.m.

Suffolk County police said Rivera had his 7-year-old and 13-year-old sons riding in the bed of the pickup truck.

They said McElmoyl determined Rivera was intoxicated and arrested him on charges of aggravated driving while intoxicated under Leandra's Law and with endangering the welfare of a child. Leandra's Law makes it a felony, even on first offense, to drive drunk with a passenger under the age of 16 in the vehicle. Rivera faces arraignment Monday in First District Court in Central Islip.
