Two men were arrested on burglary charges Tuesday after police found them stealing copper pipe from a Freeport home's heating system, according to a report from Nassau County's First Squad.
Detectives said Arthur Dematteis, 21, of 53 40th St., Copiague, and Andrew Ramkissoon, 20, of 65 Mount Ave., Freeport, were seen breaking into a home on Denhoff Avenue about 3:30 p.m.
Officers responding to a call about the break-in discovered the rear door of the home had been forced open and the two men were in the basement, removing pipe from the boiler.
Dematteis is charged with burglary, criminal possession of a forged instrument and possession of burglar's tools; Ramkissoon is charged with burglary and possession of burglar's tools.
Each is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
