Two men were arrested, charged with burglary and possession of stolen property, after they stole car parts from a garage in New Cassel early Thursday morning, police said.

Leonel Volcy, 25, of 801 Roman Ave., New Cassel, and Jamaar Monuma, 19, of 676 Hempstead Blvd., Uniondale, were observed by responding officers stealing a tire rim at the scene, police said.

Both men were charged with third-degree burglary and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.

Nassau County police said Volcy and Monuma entered the garage of a home on Roman Avenue at 2:52 a.m., taking three tire rims, two engine heads and a muffler and loading them into a Volkswagen parked on nearby Schmer Place. A 911 call alerted police to a burglary in progress and responding Third Precinct officers arrived in time to see the two men carrying a fourth rim from the garage, police said.

The two were arrested at 3:15 a.m. and the proceeds were recovered, police said. The Volkswagen also was impounded.

Police said Volcy and Monuma are scheduled for arraignment Friday in First District Court in Hempstead.
