State Police are investigating a one-car crash Wednesday on the westbound Southern State Parkway in South Farmingdale in which a woman died.

Monisha Jacob, 19, of Bethpage, was killed after she "apparently lost control" of her vehicle as she slowed for traffic, then drove off the road and struck a tree, police said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

State troopers were dispatched to the scene at 11:57 a.m., police said.

The right lane of the westbound parkway, the site of the accident, was closed near the Bethpage State Parkway, Exit 31N, for about two hours, according to the Department of Transportation website, informny.com. All lanes were open to traffic by 2:15 p.m., the site said.
