Cops nab Georgia man in Dollar Store theft
A Georgia man was charged in the November robbery of a Dollar Store patron who had a tug-of-war with him over her purse, Nassau police said.
David Stoddart, 19, was one of two males who stole the purse of a 46-year-old woman as she left the Massapequa store on Sunrise Highway about 9:05 p.m. on Nov. 1, police said. He tried to yank the purse from the woman, and when it fell to the ground, his accomplice picked it up, police said. The two fled and no injuries were reported.
But Stoddart left a piece of property behind that helped identify him, police said. After surrendering himself to detectives, he was scheduled to be arraigned on second-degree robbery Tuesday in First District Court in Hempstead.
Police said they are still looking for the second suspect.
