Nassau police have arrested a Plainview woman for assault and endangering the welfare of a child after she allegedly used a dropper to put an unidentified clear fluid into the mouth of a 4-month-old baby under her care, authorities said.
Police said it happened in Laurel Hollow on Friday at 1 p.m. The mother of the baby girl, police said, observed on a live video feed the nanny, Anneliese Brucato, 48, putting the liquid in the mouth of the infant, who was not injured.
Police believe the liquid is an over-the-counter medication and the substance is being tested. Police said more details were likely to become public Monday.
Brucato, police said, turned herself in Sunday and will be arraigned Monday in First District Court in Hempstead. Anyone with information related to the case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS.
