Cops: No crime suspected in pedestrian crash

Nassau County police said they could find no apparent criminality in a Monday traffic accident in which 86-year-old female driver struck an 85-year-old man walking in Freeport.

Police said Tuesday the woman was driving east on Atlantic Avenue in a 2009 Toyota at about 12:50 p.m. when she struck the man, who was crossing the street outside a marked crosswalk.

The man was airlifted to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow and is listed in serious condition, police said.

Police checked the car's brakes at the scene and found no issues, a spokesman said.
