A redheaded, unshaven and freckled robber dressed in all blue held up an Oceanside bank branch on Saturday morning, fleeing with cash after threatening a teller, according to the Nassau County police.

The crime happened at 10:50 a.m. inside the TD Bank at 247 Long Beach Rd., and the robber remains at large. He is described as a medium-built man, about 40 years old, 5-foot-10, wearing a hoodie-style jacket, a blue-winter knit cap and jeans -- all blue. He made his getaway on foot, walking north on Long Beach Road, where he was last seen.

The department is not disclosing the contents of the demand note or the verbal threat, how much money the robber stole, whether he showed a weapon or other details of the robbery, said police spokesman Officer Eric Evenson.

The police robbery squad, which is investigating the crime, wants tips from the public via the department's hotline: 800-244-TIPS.

The TD Bank branch, which closes at 3 p.m. on Saturday, could not be reached for comment, nor could the bank's corporate spokeswomen.
