Cops: Officer stable after LIE rollover
A Nassau County police officer was hospitalized in stable condition after his patrol unit rolled over Monday night on a Long Island Expressway entrance ramp in Syosset, police said.
Police did not release the identity of the officer, but said he is a seven-year member assigned to the Second Precinct.
The officer complained of neck and back pain after the single-car crash, which occurred at 8:48 p.m. on the westbound entrance ramp at Exit 43, South Oyster Bay Road.
On Tuesday morning, police said the cause of the crash is under investigation and that it was not clear if the officer was responding to a call or was on routine patrol at the time.
