Two Westbury men were arrested Tuesday and charged with assault following the slashing of a man in Hicksville over the weekend, Nassau police said.

Sergio Garcia, 20, of 425 Dover St., and Eduardo Chavez, 24, of 252 Sherman St., were involved in an altercation with a 30-year-old man outside 18 W. Nicholai St. at 12:01 a.m. Sunday, police said.

The victim, whose name was not released by police, was knocked to the ground and slashed in the abdomen, police said, and both Garcia and Chavez fled. The injured man did not seek medical attention, police said.

Second Squad detectives arrested Garcia and Chavez on charges of second-degree assault, and said they were to be arraigned Wednesday in First District Court, Hempstead.
