Police are searching for two men, believed to be in their mid-20s, who beat and robbed a pizza deliveryman late Monday in West Hempstead.

The deliveryman, whose identity was not released because he is the victim of a violent crime, sustained "contusions and a laceration to the hand" but refused medical attention at the scene, Nassau County police said.

Police said the attack occurred on Park Avenue just after 10 p.m. It was then, police said, that the deliveryman was approached by the two suspects -- only to be jumped by one of the men as the other was paying for the delivered food.

Police said that as the first suspect paid the victim, the second suspect placed the man in a headlock -- the two suspects then throwing the man to the ground. The suspects then "proceeded to punch and kick" the victim about the face and body, according to police.

The pair stole a Samsung Galaxy cellphone and cash before fleeing of foot west on Lincoln Avenue.

Police said the suspects were both described as about 5-foot-9 or 5-foot-10 with average builds. Both wore dark hoodies.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding the robbery to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
