Police are searching for two assailants who stole a cellphone from a 16-year-old boy in Westbury late Tuesday.

The robbery occurred at 11:15 p.m. near the corner of Maple Avenue and School Street, Nassau County police said.

Police said the teen was approached by the two, described as being in their early 20s, one of whom asked if he could "borrow" the phone to make a call.

The teen complied, police said.

But when the teen asked for his phone back, police said one of the men motioned to his waistband, suggesting he had a handgun, then refused to return the phone. The two men then fled the scene.

No one was injured.

Police are asking anyone with information about the robbery to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
