Cops: Pair stole cash from charity jar
They stole $200 from the charity jar on the countertop of a Massapequa convenience store, pouring the change into a pocketbook before fleeing, Nassau County police said.
The man and woman who police said robbed the 7-Eleven on Merrick Road on Sept. 29 were caught on surveillance video, and police Wednesday released photographs of the incident. Police are asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS.
All calls will remain confidential, police said.
The incident occurred at 2:21 a.m. Police said the money was taken from a jar for a muscular dystrophy charity.
The man is described as being about 5-foot-9, wearing blue jeans a T-shirt, a blue baseball cap and white sneakers.
The woman is described as 5-foot-4 and wore leggings, a dark shirt and white sweater. She had a large pocketbook.
