Cops: Sion Bakhshi of Roslyn identified as pedestrian in fatal crash

An 82-year-old man who was fatally struck on a Roslyn Heights street on Saturday night has been identified by Nassau police.

The victim was Sion Bakhshi of Roslyn, police said.

Bakhshi was hit by a GMC Acadia shortly before 7:30 p.m. as he crossed Mineola Avenue westbound near Hillside Avenue.

The Acadia was traveling northbound on Mineola Avenue, police said.

No other injuries were reported and no apparent criminality determined.

Bakhshi, who was taken to North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, was pronounced dead at 7:57 p.m., police said.
