A woman was hospitalized in stable condition after being struck by a car Wednesday while crossing Northern Boulevard in Great Neck, Nassau County police said.

The accident occurred at 12:13 p.m. Police said the driver of the car, a 2011 Nissan, remained at the scene -- and was not charged in the accident.

Police said the woman, 62, whose identity was not released, was crossing south to north when she was struck by the westbound car.

Officers closed westbound Northern Boulevard to gather evidence and document the accident scene. The lanes were open by 4:40 p.m., police said.
