Cops: Plainview man tried to fill forged prescription

A Plainview man was arrested Saturday after he allegedly altered a prescription for narcotics and tried to fill it at a pharmacy, Nassau County police said.
Police said David Gold, 47, gave a prescription for 110 pills of Percocet to the pharmacist at the CVS store at 1026 Old Country Rd. in Plainview on July 1. He then left, saying he'd be back later that day to pick up the pills, police said.
The pharmacist suspected the prescription had been altered and called the doctor, who confirmed that the original amount had been 10 pills, police said.
Police arrested Gold at 11:50 p.m. Saturday at his Lane Avenue home and charged him with second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument.
He was scheduled to be arraigned on Sunday at First District Court in Hempstead.
