Second Squad detectives are looking for a burglar who woke up a woman while taking jewelry from her Plainview home, Nassau County police said Thursday.

The burglar at about 5:45 p.m. Wednesday broke into an Eton Place home, where an 18-year-old woman was asleep in a second-floor bedroom, police said.

She awakened to noise and went downstairs to find a man in the house, police said.

She returned upstairs and, undetected, hid in a closet until she could call police.

Police said the woman heard the man moving about the house before he left using the back door.

The woman told police jewelry had been taken.

Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-8477. All calls will be kept confidential.
