A Point Lookout man was arrested Thursday and charged with reckless endangerment after police said a consensual search of his basement found hundreds of gallons of illegally stored gasoline and propane.

Edward P. Randolph, 63, of 104 Inwood Ave., was charged with first-degree reckless endangerment and two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon -- after Nassau County police said Arson/Bomb Squad detectives recovered two handguns.

Police said officers, acting on an anonymous tip, went to the house -- and said Randolph granted officers permission to search the home. During that search, police said, officers found eight unvented 55-gallon drums of gasoline in the basement, as well as six empty 55-gallon drums, eight 20-pound propane tanks and the two handguns.

No one was injured.

Randolph was arraigned Friday and held pending a $30,000 cash or bond bail.
