Cops: Police dog helps arrest suspect in Roslyn Heights
A police dog early Tuesday tracked down a Baldwin man wanted for violating an order of protection in Roslyn Heights, police said.
Kareem Brown, 23, of 850 St. Lukes Place, fled the scene after the 20-year-old victim contacted police, Nassau County police said.
Officers and K-9 Gehrig searched the area for Brown, and Gehrig found him on Pearsall Place at about 3:40 p.m., police said in a news release.
During the pursuit, Gehrig was injured on a fence "requiring immediate surgery to correct his condition," police said, without specifying the nature of the injury.
Brown was charged with two counts of aggravated family offense, three counts of first-degree criminal attempt, kill/injure a police animal, and third-degree criminal trespass, police said.
He was to be arraigned Tuesday in First District Court, Hempstead.
