Two people were taken to the hospital after an accident in Hicksville early Wednesday involving a Nassau County police vehicle.

A police spokesman said the accident happened at about 8:40 a.m., at Pollok Place and Julian Street.

Neither injury was believed to be serious, he said.

A woman in a minivan was driving west on Julian and the officer was driving south on Pollok when the vehicles crashed, the spokesman said.

The officer was taken to a nearby hospital with a sore back; the woman, whose minivan overturned, was transported with an injured hand, according to the spokesman.

The officer was the only person in the police vehicle, and police did not immediately know if the minivan had passengers.
