Nassau County police charged Michael Olson of Port Washington with making a terroristic threat on Wednesday after he allegedly threatened to shoot up North Hempstead Town Hall.

Town Hall was briefly evacuated Wednesday morning after Olson, 59, phoned the town's 311 call center and threatened to shoot out its windows with a shotgun, police said.

Olson had "become irate" during the phone call because the town was removing trees from his property, then made the threat, police said. Nassau and Port Washington police arrested him less than two hours later in his home without incident. He is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in First District Court in Hempstead.
