Cops probe armed robbery at Mineola store
Detectives are investigating the robbery of a Mineola store Monday in which the victim was taped to a chair and managed to free himself and call police.
The victim, 65, had just opened Convenient Kitchen and Bath, 321 Willis Ave., when the robber entered the store about 11:35 p.m. and displayed a handgun and demanded cash, Suffolk County police said in a news release.
The robber took money from the man's wallet and a gold ring before taping him to a chair and fleeing, police said. The robber also took a computer monitor and tower, computer programs and a laptop, police said.
The victim, who was not hurt, freed himself and called police.
The suspect was described as clean-shaven, 5 feet, 10 inches to 6 feet tall, about 200 pounds, "wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and dark sunglasses," police said.
Anyone with information about the robbery is urged to call anonymously to Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS.
