Fourth Squad detectives are looking for three men who beat a 14-year-old boy in Lawrence Wednesday and tried to take the teenager's cellphone, Nassau County police said.

The teen was walking near Rockaway Turnpike and Pearsall Avenue at about 4:20 p.m. when three men approached him, police said.

One man bumped him and demanded his cellphone, and a second man grabbed the victim when he tried to run. The cellphone fell to the ground and shattered, police said, and two of the men began to kick and punch the youth in the face, abdomen and ribs.

The third man reached into his pocket for what the victim thought could be a weapon, police said. The victim then was able to free himself and run away.

The three attackers also fled in an unknown direction, police said.

The victim was treated by a Nassau County Ambulance emergency medical personnel for minor injuries, police said.

Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers, 800-244-8477. All calls will be kept confidential.
