The Nassau robbery squad is looking for a man with a handgun who tried to break into a Manhasset bank Saturday afternoon, county police said.

Police said that about 1:20 p.m. a man with a black handgun tried for several minutes to enter the locked rear entrance of the Marathon Bank at 1577 Northern Blvd.

The branch manager had locked the bank's front doors just before closing time, according to a report, and was unlocking the doors, allowing customers to exit and enter one by one.

Three employees and one customer were in the bank at the time. No one was injured, police said.

Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-8477. All calls will be kept confidential.
