Police are searching for a suspect who tried to rob a 65-year-old man as he left a TD Bank branch early Monday in Valley Stream.

No one was injured, Nassau County police said. The attempted robbery occurred at 1:49 a.m. at the bank branch on West Merrick Road.

Police said the victim had just exited the bank when he was approached by the suspect, believed to be in his 30s, who demanded money -- and pointed to his jacket, indicating he might have a weapon.

The victim told the suspect he was calling 911 and, police said, at that point, the robber entered a small green vehicle and fled the scene without any proceeds, police said.
