Cops probe Baldwin gas station robbery
An armed robber held up a gas station early Monday in Baldwin, stealing money and taking the attendant's cell phone before fleeing, Nassau County police said.
No one was injured in the incident, in which the robber pointed a black revolver at the attendant when the attendant briefly followed him as he ran from the scene, police said.
The robbery took place at the BP station on Grand Avenue at 1:14 a.m. Monday, police said. It was then that the robber, described as being 5-foot-3 or 5-foot-4, 150 pounds, with a black jacket and white sneakers, entered the station and demanded cash, police said. Police said the attendant placed cash into a book bag -- and the robber also demanded his cell phone. Then, police said, the robber fled north on Grand and then east on School Drive.
The attendant briefly followed him, but stopped when the robber pointed the revolver at him, police said.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
