Two masked men, one brandishing a handgun, robbed a BP gasoline station in Bellmore early Tuesday, police said.

Nassau County police said they are searching for the robbers, who fled on foot.

The station attendant, identified only as a 21-year-old man, was struck on the head with the handgun, police said. He refused medical attention.

Police said the robbers stole cash and five packs of cigarettes. The robbery took place at 1:15 a.m. at the station in the 2400 block of Merrick Road.

Police ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential, police said.
