Nassau police are investigating whether an attempted burglary that occurred Sunday in Great Neck is related to a recent rash of incidents.

At about 12:45 a.m., a 34-year-old woman called 911 after hearing a noise at the back door of her Lawson Lane home. She turned on the outside light, and saw a man trying to open the door, but then he ducked down below the door's window and walked into a neighbor's backyard, police said in a Monday news release.

Police are investigating whether the suspect is the same man who may have illegally entered or trespassed in five homes in Great Neck and Kings Point in a three-week period beginning Nov. 30, when a man tried to enter a home on Potters Court in Great Neck through a rear sliding door at about 2:30 a.m., then ran away, police said.

The assailant did not steal anything, but all the victims who had contact with him were female, police said.

The man in Sunday's incident was described as 5 feet, 7 inches tall with a thin build, wearing a light brown jacket with brown or beige fur around the collar.

Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
