Cops probe Hempstead bank robbery
Police are investigating the robbery Thursday morning of a Hempstead bank.
A man entered the Wells Fargo Bank at 145 Fulton Ave., at 10:58 a.m. "and verbally announced a robbery to a teller," Nassau County police said in a news release.
The robber took an undetermined amount of money and fled on foot, heading north on Hilton Avenue and then west on Milford Place, police said.
Six customers and eight workers were in the bank at the time. There were no injuries.
Police described the suspect as 5 feet, 5 inches tall; about 45 to 50 years old; and with a mustache. He wore a Yankees cap, glasses, a blue nylon jacket and blue pants, police said.
