Nassau County's homicide squad is investigating the shooting death Tuesday morning of a Hempstead man, police said.

Hempstead police responding to a call for shots fired at 45 Main St. in Hempstead at about 3:28 a.m. found Torrance Maye, 36, in a rear parking lot with a gunshot wound, according to a news release.

Maye was taken to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow where he was pronounced dead at 4:12 a.m.

Police did not provide further details.
