Cops probe Hempstead street robbery
Police are searching for a masked man who robbed a woman on a street in Hempstead early Friday after displaying what the victim described as "an Uzi style" gun.
The robbery occurred on East Marshall Street at 12:10 a.m., Nassau County police said. The victim, identified only as a 41-year-old woman, was not injured, police said.
Police said the victim was on East Marshall when she was approached by the man who, wearing a ski mask, displayed the gun -- and demanded cash. The woman complied.
The suspect then fled the scene in a black Nissan.
Police are asking anyone with information regarding the robbery to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
