Police responding to a call of a rock through a window found a cellphone store in Merrick had been broken into and burglarized early Monday.

Nassau County police are searching for a man with a "stocky build" who, they said, was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, gray sweatpants, a knit cap, face mask and gloves when he broke into the Sprint Store on Merrick Road at about 3:10 a.m.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding the incident to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential, police said.

Police said "a large rock" was used to break through the front door of the store and said several cellphones were taken.
