Nassau County police Monday afternoon were investigating a report of a body found in a home in Roosevelt, a police spokesman said.

Police were dispatched to a house on Bennett Avenue at about 12:45 p.m. Spokesman Michael Toich said police were called to make a well-check.

"This happens when a resident hasn't been seen for a while," Toich said. "Right now, it doesn't appear to be a crime scene."

Toich could not confirm whether a body had been found at the scene or provide any more information.

Well-checks are typically performed by police agencies when a family member or friend living in a different area is unable to get in touch with a person for some time.
